Subject: java.io.IOException while installing Domino 8.01 on Ubuntu
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Domino Server
Technical Area: Install
Platform: Linux
Release: 8.0.1
Reproducible: Always

Yes, I know ... Ubuntu is not supported but it worked on previous releases and apperantly there are people running it on Ubuntu.

I upgraded an 8.0 servers to 8.01 just two days ago without problems.

But now I tried it with a new Ubuntu 7.10 server. And went into trouble:

Preparing Java took some time (several dotted lines as usual) and then I got this error:

IO error :java.io.IOException: Cannot allocate memory
IO error :java.io.IOException: Cannot allocate memory

Strange thing is that the installer doesn't stop here and I can continue.

I ran into a small issue that I get a
/opt/ibm/lotus is not writable
/local/notesdata is not writable

error while creating the folders (logged in as root). But I just do this step again and it works fine (and the folders are created).

But finally I ran into an error that stops me when I tried add the user:

User Name [root] notes

IO error :java.io.IOException: Cannot allocate memory

1. Respecify the value
2. Cancel

That's it and I have no clue what's going wrong.

EDIT:
As I run this on a virtual machine that has a min. memory of 512MB allocated I changed it to a minimum of 1,024MB RAM ... problem remains the same.

Any idea would be helpful
Thanks
